India Architecture, Heritage & Urban Transformation Immersion

An intensive 11-day program from Mughal monuments to modern sustainable architecture and smart cities.

Duration
11 days · 10 nights
Cities
Delhi · Agra · Jaipur · Ahmedabad
Upcoming Dates
16–26 Nov 2026
What Is This Program

Five centuries of architecture in a single journey.

India may be the only country where a single journey can encompass Mughal architecture (the Taj Mahal), colonial heritage, modern masterworks (the IIM Ahmedabad campus designed by Louis Kahn), and emerging smart cities. For students of architecture and urbanism, particularly those from regions building ambitious new cities, India offers a uniquely complete spectrum of the built environment.

This 11-day residential academic program is designed for international students and professionals in architecture, urban planning, interior design, civil engineering, landscape design, and heritage conservation. It is developed in partnership with the School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi, with a campus visit to IIM Ahmedabad.

This is not a monuments tour. It is a structured academic experience: workshops with architects and planners, site analysis of historic and contemporary works, and sessions on India's urban transformation.

Participation is by application only. Each cohort is limited to 20 participants, selected through a review of academic background and statement of purpose.

Why India for Architecture

The most complete architectural spectrum on earth.

Historic Mastery

From the Taj Mahal to the palace complexes of Jaipur and the stepwells of Gujarat, India's historic architecture represents some of the most sophisticated structural and aesthetic achievements in human history, studied on site, not in slides.

Modern Landmarks

Louis Kahn's IIM Ahmedabad and Le Corbusier's Chandigarh placed India at the center of 20th-century modern architecture. These works are living teaching environments for any serious student of the discipline.

Urban Transformation

India is urbanizing at a scale and speed unmatched in history, building smart cities and new urban infrastructure. For students from regions undertaking ambitious development, India offers directly relevant lessons in contemporary urbanism.

Program Structure

Eleven days. Four cities. From Mughal to modern.

The program moves from the planned capital of Delhi through the Mughal masterworks of Agra and the royal urbanism of Jaipur to Ahmedabad, a living museum of both historic stepwells and modern architectural landmarks.
